St Columba launches

On Sunday the community of Hackney Wick and Fish Island, along with the Bishop of Stepney, Adrian Newman, and MP Meg Hillier came together to launch London’s newest floating church, St Columba.

Using water from the canal, Bishop Adrian blessed the barge and led attendees in prayer before joining parishioners of all ages aboard the barge to celebrate the event.

The new floating community hub, which will be run in partnership with the parishes of St Paul Old Ford and St Mary of Eton, will help serve the new and existing communities of Hackney Wick, Fish Island and Here East. It will be led by QEOP Missioner Dave Pilkington, who has been building relationships and making connections in the local community for the last two years.
