Re-opening our doors, getting back to normal

As COVID restrictions continue to ease, we are looking forward to getting back to normal at St Paul’s. We’re still some way from things being back to what they were before the pandemic, but lots of our activities are returning.

Here’s a quick summary of current activities at St Paul’s. Many people from our congregation are already participating in these, but we thought it would be good to provide an update here, in one place, so everybody knows what’s going on.

Sunday services

Our Sunday services have been back in person since Easter Day, and are continuing in a socially distanced way. This means that you should book a place in the service before you come, and be prepared to wear a mask, sanitise and socially distance in the church building.

Our youth group is back meeting during the service, but our other children’s groups (Sunday school and under-5s) have not returned yet. We will let you know when these will be restarting.

Prayer

We have been meeting for prayer on Zoom at midday Monday to Thursday, and for evening prayer on Fridays at 6:30pm, for most of this year. These virtual prayer meetings are specifically for the vacancy and they will continue, led by a member of the staff team. If you would like to join one of these, sign up to the newsletter to get the meeting joining information.

We’ll also be starting in-person prayer meetings for the vacancy on Sundays. We will be praying after the service on the first and third Sundays of the month, starting on 6 June. You can stay on after the service, or come along especially for these meetings.

Bible study

Our Bible study groups are all back meeting in person again. We have 3 groups, which are:

• in church at 2pm on Wednesdays
• in church at 7:30pm on Wednesdays
• Bible in the pub at The Eleanor Arms at 8pm on Wednesdays

The church groups are also meeting on Zoom, so if you want to take part, but can’t come to the church building, you can still join. Email hello@stpauloldford.com for more information about how to join.

Bible in the pub is in person only, and at the moment is restricted to 6 people. If you want to come along, email hello@stpauloldford.com

Youth work

Our youth Bible study is on Tuesdays at 4pm in the church building. Some of our other youth activities have still to re-start, but we are having some events and trips. See our Youth page for more information or email jessica@stpauloldford.com

St Columba

The St Columba Thursday evening meetings are back together in person on the boat at 7pm. Contact Rev Dave for more information

Café and other activities

Our café is currently closed because of refurbishment work, and will re-open next month. We’ll update you about reopening dates when these become clearer.

The church is open for other activities, including a range of community groups. You can find more information about these on the church calendar. These are mostly run by outside organisations, but you can find contact information for these in the church calendar (scroll down on the homepage).
