St Paul’s building to remain closed

Government guidelines will allow places of worship to open for private prayer from the 15th June. The Church of England has stated that this will be a decision for each church to make depending on the local situation.

I have agreed with the Churchwardens of St Paul Old Ford that it is right for St Paul’s church building to remain closed for the time being. This is to ensure ongoing protection for vulnerable members of the community who may want to come into the building and to show solidarity with those of other faiths in Tower Hamlets who will not open their faith buildings until it is safe for communal prayer to take place.

We recognise that people may have different views about this decision, and it has not been an easy one to come to. However, at this time we believe that this is the best way we can continue to serve the most vulnerable in our community.

Our services continue online at facebook.com/stpauloldford or www.stpauloldford.com, and we are continuing to pray for this community as we seek to safely come out of lockdown.
